Private Instruction & WorkshopsSince high school, Cameryn has been teaching private cello lessons and leading cello sectionals, and she continues to grow her outreach efforts to see more cellists in the valley.
In her private studio, Cameryn teaches cellists both classical and folk styles while focusing on building a great technical foundation. She works with each student to develop their musicality through the concertos, sonatas, and tunes they study. Each student has the opportunity to perform in a studio recital each year, and is encouraged to attend music camps and workshops where they would be exposed to different ways and methods of teaching. Cameryn has also worked with the Campo Verde High School orchestras as a cello sectional coach, and occasionally coached the East Valley Youth Symphony cellists. |
Gilbert Town Fiddlers - Community OutreachCameryn first became involved with the Gilbert Town Fiddlers (GTF) her final year of high school as a group member. This was her first ever exposure to folk music, and -oh- what a difference it made!
Following her graduation, Cameryn assisted GTF as an alumni, volunteering her time to coordinate the group's annual school tours. Soon after, Cameryn began attending weekly rehearsals and became their official Rehearsal Assistant. Cameryn served as GTF's Community Outreach Coordinator for the 2020-2021 season. StringPlay - Faculty MemberIn the summer of 2017, Cameryn was brought onto the StringPlay staff as a Teaching Assistant. In 2018, she was made into a faculty member and has continued to teach on staff since.
Part of StringPlay's camp curriculum is having the students break out into small groups to learn music by ear and arrange the songs and tunes under the guidance of a faculty member. Cameryn helps to coordinate these small groups, and has led elective classes on Collaborative Tune-Writing. At StringPlay's Online 2020 Camp, she led the Collaborative Tune-Writing course for the first time, and the campers wrote three new tunes in the class! Cameryn looks forward to StringPlay each summer, and can't wait for the next. To learn more about StringPlay, visit stringplaycamp.com. |
